“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
(Matthew 11.28–30 MESSAGE)
A life of following Jesus was never intended to be a burden to carry or a task to complete but a way of life in “the unforced rhythms of grace”. These rhythms are learned through “keeping company” with Jesus with the result being a life lived in the freedom of Christ.
Adult Ministries exists to support the mission of Redwood Covenant Church to grow and release disciples into the missional purposes of God. The growing part of this mission takes place primarily in mission together in what we call Community Groups. These groups are mid-sized communities gathered together around a particular mission focus (i.e. Special Olympics, Human Trafficking, Homelessness) where they seek to demonstrate the love of the Gospel through service and partnership. (For more information see the Community Groups page here.)
We also seek to facilitate growth through our growing map of Trailhead experiences which deepen our understanding through dialogue and instruction. These Trailhead experiences will focus on topics like the Bible, Jesus, church, theology, and other issues. The Trailheads will be clearly marked for different levels of challenge - E=Easy; M=Moderate; S=Strenuous. The goal of these treks is to make disciples who make disciples and live lives that are free and light - just as God intended! Come join the adventure!
“But friends, that's exactly who we are: children of God. And that's only the beginning. Who knows how we'll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we'll see him—and in seeing him, become like him.” -1 John 3:2-3 (Message)
Jesus did not call His followers to sit watching the parade go by. Rather, He called us into the adventure of participating in God’s mission. As our eyes “see” Jesus through study of Scripture we begin to reflect His character in ourselves to those around us. Redwood Women’s Ministry seeks to grow women into disciples of Christ who extend the love of Christ through building relationships.
Women’s Ministry is committed to supporting the mission of Redwood Covenant in cultivating disciples who will disciple others and love the world around us. Our relationship with God and one another grow through our weekly Bible studies. Bible studies are offered during the Fall, Winter and Spring quarters (see the web site for current study information). Community and relationships with one another are encouraged through our quarterly events and we “love our neighbor as ourselves” through strategic outreach projects into our community.
