We want to help everyone get connected and feel at home at Redwood Covenant and we realize that in a larger church, sometimes this can be challenging.
In addition to Groups (our small groups, which are a great to get to know new folks), we are working on several new opportunities to help create connection which we will be unveiling soon for the fall of 2010.
ALPHA
One of the stops along the trail of connection here at RCC is Alpha.
In 1993 Nicky Gumble discovered people were struggling with real questions of faith and other religious traditions. He put together a simple course in basic Christianity to bring people together to talk about their beliefs (or non-beliefs) without being judged. Redwood Covenant Church has been offering the Alpha program since the late 1990’s.
Alpha is a ten week course on basic Christianity. Each week we discuss a different topic:
Who Is Jesus?
Why Did Jesus Die?
How Can I Be Sure of My Faith?
How and Why Do I Read the Bible?
How and Why Do I Pray?
Does God Guide Us Today?
(In the middle of the course is a special Alpha Weekend where we discuss “What Does the Holy Spirit Do?” and “How Can I Be Filled with the Holy Spirit?”)
How Can I Resist Evil?
Why and How Should I Tell Others?
Does God Heal Today?
What About Church?
Redwood Covenant Church runs the Alpha program three times per year – Fall, Winter, and Spring. So if you can’t make it this time, think about taking a course in the future. Each class is on a Tuesday night from 6:30-9:00 p.m.
