Vision and Beliefs

•OUR VISION
There are many ways to complicate the Christian faith and to lower the bar of discipleship. At Redwood, our vision is to simplify our faith and to raise the bar of discipleship by growing in three directions: IN, UP and OUT.

Our vision grows out of Jesus’ primary relationships: IN with his disciples, UP with his Heavenly Father and OUT toward the world that God loves. Taking those relationships as the focus for our vision, we seek to grow our faith in three relational directions:
• In by connecting with others in discipleship
•Up by connecting with God in worship
•Out by connecting with the world in service

By growing IN we seek to foster communities and groups that share life together.
By growing UP we seek to help people experience God’s amazing love given to us in Jesus.
By growing OUT we seek to serve the world that God so loved that he gave his only Son.

IN. UP. OUT. It’s simple. It’s simply faith, Jesus-style.

•OUR DENOMINATION AND BELIEFS
Redwood Covenant Church is a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC).
The Evangelical Covenant Church is a rapidly growing multiethnic denomination in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants, the ECC values the Bible as the word of God, the gift of God's grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through a faith in Jesus Christ, the importance of extending God's love and compassion to a hurting world, and the strength that comes from unity within diversity. The Covenant remains faithful to the vision of earlier Christians who sought a personal relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior, and found no other authority for the conduct of their lives, than that which God’s word has revealed in His scriptures.

•Biblical, but not doctrinaire
•Traditional, but not rigid
•Congregational, but not independent

The Evangelical Covenant Church Denomination is committed to:
•Reaching the unchurched, pressing forward in ethnic ministry and diversity.
•Extending greater measures of compassion and justice to the poor and desperate.
•Forming spiritually mature disciples who live out obedience to Christ in the world.
•Calling forth and equipping women and men for all levels of church leadership.
